Principal Investigator

Catherine E. Mosher, Ph.D.

Professor, Psychology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)
Member, Indiana University Simon Cancer Comprehensive Center

I am a professor of psychology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Since 2010, I have been directing the Behavioral Oncology laboratory. I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from SUNY Albany, and I completed postdoctoral training in psycho-oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. My primary research interests are: (1) developing, evaluating, and disseminating psychosocial interventions for adults with cancer and their family caregivers; and (2) identifying demographic, medical, and social predictors of their physical and psychological health outcomes. My recent projects have focused on novel applications of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for these populations.

I also co-direct our Cancer Center’s pre- and postdoctoral training program in cancer prevention and control. Information about this National Cancer Institute-supported T32 program can be found here: https://cancer.iu.edu/education/graduate-training/cancer-prevention-and-control/index.html

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Shieun Lee, Ph.D.

I am a first-year postdoctoral fellow in Interdisciplinary Training in Cancer Prevention and Control (NCI T32) program. I received my MPH degree (2018) and PhD (2023) at Indiana University Bloomington. My research interests include investigating the mechanism by which technology use, uptake of addictive substances, and mental health problems interact with one another in cancer patients and their family caregivers. When I have spare time, I like to spend time with my family and Rosie, a 5-year-old Yorkipoo.

Ellen Krueger

I’m a sixth-year student in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at IUPUI and current adult neuropsychology intern at the Missouri Health Sciences Psychology Consortium. Prior to IUPUI, I earned my BS in Psychology from the University of Dayton. My research interests include identifying predictors of advanced cancer patients' and family caregivers' symptoms and quality of life as well as the development and evaluation of psychosocial interventions to improve these outcomes in cancer care. Under Dr. Mosher’s mentorship, I applied for and received a T32 training fellowship in interdisciplinary cancer control. Due to my clinical interest in the relationships between brain and behavior, I am pursuing a career in clinical neuropsychology. My favorite activities include spoiling my dog, Arlo, and becoming a regular at my favorite local restaurants.
